We invest in companies that can: offer products of better quality and with fair price, make more efficient use of natural resources, promote the conservation of biodiversity, increase agricultural productivity, and/or provide increased income for farmers and cooperatives. Sub-sectors include agro-extractivism, food and beverage and industrial suppliers.
Brazil has a severe housing shortage, which is one of the chronic problems of the country. We invest in companies and projects focused on real estate development and construction for low and medium income families.
Kaeté seeks investments in projects related to education that contribute to regional development, and reduce the country’s education disparity today evident between the various regions of Brazil.
The regions where we invest have unexplored capacity for renewable energy power generation. Kaeté invests in renewable energy projects from sources such as biomass, solar, hydroelectric and wind.
We invest in companies that aim to increase access to health products and services such as hospitals, laboratories, and clinics.
Quality infrastructure is essential to promote regional development. We invest in urban mobility, logistics and sanitation projects.
We invest in small and medium-sized companies with high growth potential and have positive social and environmental impact in the communities and regions where they operate. Our investment criteria are:

Geography: be located in or have significant operations or impact in the North, Northeast or Mid-West regions of Brazil. The fund that we are currently investing is focused on companies located in the Legal Amazon region, which includes all states in the North region of Brazil plus the states of Maranhão and Mato Grosso)

Sectors: operate in one of our investment sectors of Agribusiness, Housing, Education, Energy, Health, or Infrastructure.

Stage: operating businesses that high growth or consolidation potential. In special cases, we invest also in pre-operational businesses.

Investment Size: our investment ticket range from R$ 5 million to R$ 25 million per company and can be structured as either convertible debt or equity.

 Corporate Governance: we help structure a Board of Directors, hire a professional management team, and implement management systems and controls (ERPs) in the companies that we invest.

The investment process is comprised of 5 major phases and takes on average 3 to 6 months to be completed, depending on the quality and availability of information about the company.

We are constantly looking for entrepreneurs and companies through our extensive network in the regions where we operate. All potential investees are evaluated on criteria such as (1) feasibility and financial projections, (2) size and attractiveness of the market, (3) management team quality, (4) quality and potential for expansion of the company’s products and services, and (5) social and environmental impact. If the analysis is favorable, the terms of the investment are negotiated with the entrepreneur. Next step is submitting the project to the Fund’s Investment Committee. If the proposed investment is approved by the Committee, a legal and accounting due diligence is performed on the company, and only after this are concluded the contracts related to the investment are signed.

■ Risk tolerance: we are tolerant to the risks inherent to the regions where we operate and we work closely with our partners to find ways to mitigate the risks related to the companies in which we invest

■ Long-term relationship: we seek to develop long lasting relationships with our partners, so that the businesses in which we invest can have the time they need to grow and consolidate

■ Search for quantitative and qualitative indicators: we adopt and use qualitative and quantitative indicators to measure the impact of our investments
